Part 2: The Anchor
An excerpt taken for an SBL Live session with Guru Alvin on the Kembangan on 12 Feb. Recording available for all members.
When Your Legs Shake, Your Mind Stops Wandering
When we hold a low stance and your legs start burning, something interesting happens.
You stop thinking about dinner.
You stop thinking about work.
You stop thinking about your phone.
Why?
Because your body is demanding attention.
The tension becomes an anchor.
Instead of fighting discomfort, we use it. The shaking legs. The tight shoulders. The controlled breathing.
Example:
Have you ever held a plank position? At first, your mind wanders. But as it gets harder, your focus sharpens. You become very aware of every second.
That’s not suffering — that’s presence.
We train the body to train the mind. If you can stay calm when your muscles are screaming, you can stay calm when life gets uncomfortable.
And life will get uncomfortable.
